Dominican Republic, here we come!

It's been a while since I've posted, but I've been busy planning for our trip to the Dominican Republic. We leave in just 4 days. My wonderful sister Darci, and Dave's awesome sister Katie have agreed to watch Addison so we can go and enjoy ourselves alone. Dave served his mission in the Santiago, DR mission, so we'll be staying in one of the areas he served in. We are so excited. It will be my first time out of the country.

I'm starting to get a little sad about leaving Addison for so long, but both Katie and Darci are great with her so I know she'll be fine. I'm more worried about Dave and I. We'll just have to focus on having fun and enjoying our time alone.

Who does she look like?

I copied this idea from my friend Sarah. She used this meter on her blog and I thought it was cool. People are always saying Addison looks equally like both Dave and I, but according to this site, she's 11% more like me. The picture of Dave is a bad one. The only straight on picture we have of Dave is a passport picture. If it were a better picture I think it would be more equal.

Hugs

Addison is developing quite the character now. She does this silly thing now when she wants hugs or is excited about getting something. She's even done it when I bring her a drink of water. What a dork!

Finally Walking

Addison has been walking for about a month now, but I'm just barely getting around to downloading the videos. The video is not great quality and I sound like an idiot, but she's cute.

Excitement?

I've found myself wishing for a little more excitement in my life, but I now take that back. On Saturday my sister Darci was supposed to watch Addison so Dave and I could go out, but she woke up at 3:30 that morning with a fever. We gave her some Tylenol and it seemed to bring it down fine. Saturday morning she acted fine until her fever came back. We tried medicine twice more during the day, but it didn't seem to touch the fever. Finally by that afternoon I was getting worried because she was so miserable. She moaned all day, would hardly eat or drink and couldn't sleep for more then 10 minutes at a time. We took her to urgent care where we waited for an hour and a half to be told to take her to the emergency room! I was pretty calm until about this point. We drove to the ER where the triage nurse was shocked the urgent care didn't give her anything to bring the temperature down. When they checked her in her temperature was 104.7. She was almost despondent by this time. They got her in pretty quick, gave her a ton of Tylenol and Ibuprofen and then a popsicle. Thank goodness that did the trick and within a few hours she was doing fine and wanting to explore the hospital. We are so grateful that she is ok. Next time I know that we need to try both Tylenol and Ibuprofen! That's enough "excitement" for this week.

Happy Anniversary!

Today Dave and I celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. Dave asked me this morning if I still remembered the day we got married. What a silly question, of course I do. These last 5 years have been the best years of my life. When I married Dave I loved him and thought he was great, but he's turned out to be more sweet, thoughtful, helpful, and the best father and husband I could have ever hoped for. (Sorry, Dave, I don't know how else to word that sentence. I know how much you hate when people end sentences with a preposition.) That's another great thing about Dave. I do lots of things that I'm sure frustrate him or bug him, but he never lets on. I truly found the greatest man. I'm the luckiest girl alive!

Our trip to Flagstaff

Dave had a work meeting in Flagstaff on Friday morning last week so we drove up Thursday night and stayed an extra night just to enjoy the nice weather. It was gorgeous and we didn't want to come back to the 110 degree plus weather in Phoenix. On Saturday morning before we came home we went to Walnut Canyon where you can hike in a little and see some of the Native American ruins. These people lived in caves on the edge of cliffs. I don't know how they got around, but they were pretty cool to see.

We went to Utah in July to visit family. On the 24th, Pioneer Day in Utah, we went hiking with my parents. We took the tram up to the top of Snow Bird and then hiked down to Cecret Lake and finally to Alta Ski resort where we had to bum a ride from a really nice family in order to get down to where the cars were parked. We had a picnic at the lake and Addison went to town on her very own nectarine. It was a lot of fun. Thanks mom and dad!

Happy First Birthday!

So I know I'm a terrible blogger. Addison's first birthday was July 9th and I'm just barely getting it on the blog. At least I took pictures though, right? These picures are in reverse order, but as you can tell, Addison was a little freaked out by the unknown cupcake and all of the attention at first. Eventually she tasted it though and there was no turning back. She was in heaven. Thanks for the cute outfit, Aunt Rachel!

Dew Rag

I'm not sure that's how it's spelled, but either way, she looks cute. She was the hit of the ward! No one can resist those big blue eyes, especially not her mom and dad!

Fun with Beans

Addison is such a good eater. I think she'll eat just about anything we give her. She especially had fun with these black beans. We thought this was a perfect blackmail picture moment with the black face, snot and crazy hair.
